CASE INFORMATION IS NOT PROVIDED BY PHONE WITHOUT A CASE NUMBER The Criminal Division of the Anne Arundel County Circuit Court Clerk's Office handles a variety of criminal cases. All felony charges are heard in the Circuit Court with the exception of some felony theft charges that may be heard in the District Court. Lesser offenses which would normally be heard by District Court may be heard by way of a jury demand in the Circuit Court. In addition an appeal of a District Court sentence, indictment or information may be heard at the Circuit Court. After a defendant has been found guilty, either by a judge or a jury, he/she may file for an appeal to the Court of Special Appeals. A defendant, if qualified, may apply for an expungement of his/her record. The Circuit Court Criminal Division performs many duties which include filing and docketing case pleadings, issuing summonses, subpoenas, warrants, body attachments, and writs. Bonds are issued upon order of court to secure defendant's presence at court hearings.
