The License Department is located in the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County, Room 101. The Circuit Court is located in Historic Annapolis on Church Circle. Parking meters are located on Calvert Street and Northwest Street.

The License Department at the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County is responsible for administering the oath of office for all Anne Arundel County Notaries.

The average processing time for a notary application is 6-8 weeks once the application is received by the Secretary of State. Once you are approved as a notary you must appear in person at the License Department in the Circuit Court between the hours of 8:30 – 4:30 Monday through Friday. There is no appointment required. There is an $11.00 fee due at the time the oath is taken. The fee can be paid by cash or with a personal check made payable to the Clerk of the Court.

 NOTARY CERTIFICATIONS

Once a notary signs and seals a document, on occasion that document may need to be certified by the Court. The fee for this process is $1.00 per certification. This process can be done by mail or in person. The documents should be mailed to the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County, 7 Church Circle, Post Office Box 71, Annapolis, Maryland 21404
